Square1 and Stripe Deliver Unified Payment Platform for Hyundai France

Irish digital agency Square1 has partnered with global payment processor Stripe to develop a bespoke payment management portal for Hyundai.

Square1, the award-winning digital agency with offices in Ireland, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, has announced the successful completion of a landmark project with Hyundai Motor Co. France, delivering a centralised, Stripe-powered web portal that unifies payment management across one of Europe's most competitive automotive markets.

The project, which launched as part of a wider programme of three digital initiatives undertaken by Hyundai France in 2022, addressed a pressing and complex challenge facing the South Korean automotive manufacturer — the management of payment flows across a network of more than 180 dealers operating throughout France. Prior to the engagement, a fragmented approach to payment management, compounded by multiple legacy software systems and a lack of unified financial visibility, was creating significant operational inefficiencies and making it difficult for Hyundai's teams to make confident, data-driven decisions.

Working closely with Hyundai and leveraging Stripe Connect at the core of the solution, Square1's team of expert software developers designed and built a sophisticated web portal tailored specifically to the needs of Hyundai France's operations. The platform consolidates payment visibility across the entire business, supports complex multi-stakeholder payment flows between customers and dealers, and incorporates Stripe's Know Your Customer (KYC) tools to streamline dealer onboarding and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance — a critical requirement given the scale and diversity of Hyundai's dealer network.

A standout feature of the solution is its role-based access system, built around three distinct user profiles designed to serve the specific needs of each stakeholder group. Hyundai headquarters operates as the platform's super-administrator, with full visibility and control across the entire network. Individual dealership salespeople access the tools they need to manage customer transactions and issue deposit payment links, whilst legal managers overseeing multiple dealerships benefit from consolidated visibility across all relevant dealer activity. The headquarters team also retains the ability to onboard new dealers and users at any time, ensuring the platform scales seamlessly alongside Hyundai's growing network.

Beyond operational efficiency, the platform has played a pivotal role in supporting the launch of Hyundai's new car service subscription model in France — an innovative offering that required flexible, reliable, and scalable payment infrastructure to underpin it. The system delivers real-time insights into subscription activity and transaction data, empowering Hyundai's finance and operations teams to monitor performance, respond to emerging trends, and address customer queries with greater speed and confidence than ever before.

Since implementation, Hyundai France has benefited from aggregated reporting and centralised payment management across the full breadth of its business, with the platform providing a comprehensive and accurate overview of financial activity at both a dealer and network level.

Commenting on the project, a spokesperson for Square1 said: "Hyundai France presented us with a genuinely complex and multi-layered challenge, and we're proud of what we delivered together with Stripe. This project is a great example of what's possible when deep technical expertise, the right payment infrastructure, and a shared commitment to solving real business problems come together. The result is a platform that is already making a tangible difference to how Hyundai France operates every day."
